At Hollyburn Eye Clinic, we strive to meet all of your eye and vision care needs. After a comprehensive eye exam, our doctors will discuss the contact lens options to select the type that best fits your vision and lifestyle needs. Whether it’s daily lenses, bi-weekly, monthly or even hard lenses. The difference between contact lenses is as follows:

Types of Contact Lenses

Daily soft contact lenses are the most popular type of contact lenses worn today. This soft contact lens is designed to be removed prior to sleeping and are the safest type of contact lens to wear. Daily soft contact lenses are convenient for most people who want to wear contact lenses because of their easy care solution: simply discard at the end of each day.

Daily:

Each day a new pair is used, proving be the healthiest, safest and most comfortable choice. They are highly popular because of their easy care solution: simply discard at the end of the day.

Bi-Weekly and Monthly:

Replaced either monthly or bi- weekly, this is a great alternative to dailies. They are a thicker than dailies, allowing one pair to last for weeks, rather than hours. Must be disinfected before each wear. Without proper care, eyes are more prone to infections.

Hard & Scleral Contact Lenses:

These lenses are for patients with slightly more complicated eye conditions such as chronic dry eye, keratoconus, and presbyopia being the most common ones .Your doctor will discuss these options if you are an eligible candidate.

Although a great solution, contact lenses are not universal for all patients. Some eye conditions make wearing contacts a difficult proposition. However, patients can discuss options with their Doctor of Optometry, and obtain specialized hard to fit contact lenses for their specific vision problems.

Cosmetic Contact Lenses:

Created to camouflage any colour variation or irregularity and produce a natural eye color. Cosmetic lenses are also available to transform your eye colour. They are available in either monthlies, or dailies.
